Michael Lewis

Michael Lewis is a columnist for Bloomberg News and has contributed to other news publications. He has written several books about Wall Street and the financial markets in addition to Flash Boys: The Big Short, Boomerang, and Liar’s Poker. He finds an issue or a story happening on Wall Street that the layman may not fully understand such as the subprime mortgage crisis and explains it through stories that make it comprehensible for the reader.

Before Lewis became a writer, he worked at Salomon Brothers, a large Wall Street firm, and that served as his inspiration for his first book, Liar’s Poker. His books about Wall Street have been national bestsellers in addition to his other books. His most notable books are The Blind Side, an account of Michael Oher and his football career, and Moneyball, the story of Billy Beane and the 2002 Oakland Athletics. He has also written about personal experiences with coaches and raising his children.


He speaks about technology and how society is changing because of the Internet. He has written a few pieces about the Internet and how increased connectivity has changed society and how we interact with each other. In his book Next, The Future Just Happened, he documents crumbling institutions and the rise of young entrepreneurs who want to change the world.
